Mission

Through the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada we expand our understanding of family and reach out to brothers and sisters around the world. Queens Avenue contributes a portion of its yearly donations to assist in this work.

In the past, in our own congregation, we have sponsored 11 Vietnamese refugee families; and for 10 years the Refugee Project supplied food, clothing and furniture to newly arrived and destitute refugees.

A project to promote the use of fair-traded coffee has greatly expanded and fair-traded coffee is now served regularly in our church.

Recently we were part of a Global Concerns Group which sponsored three community forums.

Outreach

Lunch Program

Our weekly Community Lunch Program began on May 3, 1995 and our dedicated volunteers are now in their 14th year of serving lunches at Queens. They do kitchen preparation on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and serve lunch on Wednesdays. They usually serve approximately 100 people or more each week! Thanks to all the many volunteers who make this meal possible!
